This blog is your one-stop guide to the best trail riding in Montana and surrounding states. It catalogues the horseback adventures as me and my friends we discover the best places to horse camp, the most scenic and safe trails, the hotels that accommodate both horse and rider, and where to find the best refreshments after a full day of riding. I'll also be writing about:
- how to prepare and outfit yourself, your horse, and your rig for a safe journey;
- the condition of each trail, such as the footing, elevation gains, water crossings or bridges;
- how to keep you and your horse healthy and safe throughout your travels; and
- points of interest you may also enjoy, such as historical sites, geological features, museums, hot springs, and other attractions in the area.
My equine companion on this journey is my speckled gray Arabian mare, Breaza. Breaza and I began our journey together when she was only 4-years old. I was always planning to do something awesome with her like competing in dressage, eventing, or endurance. But, life happened. We didn't have time. Breaza had four colts. I raised two daughters. Breaza is now18 years old, and I'm just over 50. Thus it is. We are extreme explorers at heart, but our days of being wild and crazy are over (for the most part :D). Still, we are young in spirit. Our golden days of weekend trail riding all over Montana are just beginning!
So, saddle up and get ready to ride! We're hitting the trails!
